The Perfect Red Lip
the perfect red lip

A red lip is a whole mood, a red lip can elevate your look in an instant, you can wear it with barely there skin & no mascara for that Parisian chic vibe or you can incorporate it in a strong makeup look for a more red carpet old hollywood feel.

Choosing the correct shade for you skin tone is important as the wrong colour can wash you out, as a general guide i go for:

Fair Skin – Blue or pink-based reds

Golden Skin – Warm reds with berry hues or a brown undertone

Olive Skin – True warm reds

Deep Skin – Deep pink-red shades or reds with an orange undertone look best on dark skin.

Red Lip Tips

Always exfoliate & Hydrate the lip first, all eyes will be on the lip, the skin needs to be perfect. A lip mask is also a good option for prepping red lips. Use a sharp Liner to map out the lip first & colour in whole lip with liner for maximum longevity before going in with lipstick.

Use a hydrating lipstick for a softer effect & matte for a more dramatic effect, for a matte lip to wear well, your lips must be super hydrated and not flakey. Gloss will always soften the look if your lips are dry.

Check out my tutorial on how i apply a red lip.

Enjoy Nicola xx
